Spotify is officially launching its Your Daily Drive playlist in the U.S. to cater to commuters who spend 70 billion collective hours behind the wheel, the company says.
The playlist includes music users already like along with recommended tracks, similar to its flagship playlist Discover Weekly, as well as podcast news updates from The Wall Street Journal, NPR and PRI (Public Radio International.)
It may also intersperse this mix with timeless music classics on occasion, the company says.
The launch represents the first time Spotify has combined music and podcasts in one playlist, and is part of the company’s broader efforts in growing its podcast listener base.
Spotify promises “a personalized audio feed that blends music and news in one place for the perfect commute experience.” The company says Your Daily Drive will be updated throughout the day, with the goal being to keep users from having to flip between stations on the radio or phone.
Your Daily Drive is available starting this for Spotify users in the US.
